Curry Returns with 24 Points, Leads Warriors to Victory over Wizards

WASHINGTON — Stephen Curry made a strong return to the court, scoring 24 points in 24 minutes to propel the Golden State Warriors to a 125-112 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday. Back from a left ankle injury that kept him out for three games, Curry helped Golden State secure its fourth straight victory, improving their season record to 6-1.

Curry, who sustained a strained peroneal muscle in his ankle during a game against the Clippers on October 27, was cautious yet effective. The star guard shot 7 of 15 from the field, sinking four 3-pointers, and dished out six assists. After the game, Curry confirmed that he felt good and was optimistic about increasing his minutes for the Warriors’ next matchup against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

“That’s why this was important—to get through this game,” Curry said. “I could play aggressively without overextending. The rest of this road trip will be challenging, but I feel ready.”

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was impressed by Curry’s performance, noting that he “looked strong and moved well” throughout the game. Curry, initially in the starting lineup, switched to coming off the bench in the second half to allow the team to manage his playing time in six-minute intervals toward the end of the third and fourth quarters.

Golden State’s road trip will continue after the Celtics game, with stops in Cleveland and Oklahoma City.
